    The National Hellenic Research Foundation (NHRF), with registered seat at 48 Vassileos Constantinou Avenue, Tel. +30 210.72.73.501, Email: grammateia[@]eie.gr (hereinafter referred to as ‘NHRF’), manages this website. The use of the website is governed by these Terms of Use, which apply as is, without the possibility of modification by visitors.


    Disclaimer

    NHRF takes all necessary measures to provide users with a secure environment, providing them with accurate, reliable and up-to-date information. However, each user remains solely responsible for evaluating the accuracy of the content posted on NHRF’s website, regardless of whether it is information provided by NHRF itself or by a third party.

    NHRF makes reasonable efforts for the maintenance and availability of the website it manages and reserves the right to modify and/or temporarily or permanently suspend all or part of it with or without notice to users, given that availability may be affected by users' equipment and software, other communication networks, the large number of people trying to use the website simultaneously or other causes. Consequently, NHRF bears no responsibility for any kind of damage resulting from users’ inability to access the website, the cessation of all or parts of it, delays, non-delivery, interruption or poor quality of service reception, loss of content or the existence of any kind of errors. In any case, NHRF reserves the right to temporarily or permanently suspend the operation of all or part of the website at any time for maintenance or upgrade purposes or for any other reason.

    Furthermore, the user acknowledges that communications over open networks are exposed to numerous threats that render them insecure, and it is incumbent upon the user to take all necessary technical measures to adequately manage these threats. This includes, but is not limited to, possessing updated malware detection systems such as viruses, Trojans, etc., as well as keeping the security patches of their respective browsers up to date. NHRF bears no responsibility for any damages that may arise from users' browsing of third-party websites/applications, as they remain solely responsible for evaluating and using the content posted on them. NHRF reserves the right to remove the relevant links from this application at any time, at its discretion.


    Intellectual - Industrial Property - Republication Terms

    All content of the website, including information, services, distinctive titles, trademarks, images, graphics, photographs, drawings, texts, etc. constitutes the intellectual property of NHRF, based on the Greek and EU regulatory framework governing intellectual and industrial property, as well as the relevant international conventions, subject to the explicitly mentioned exceptions. Similarly, the name, images, its graphic design (look & feel), the underlying programs (including source codes), logos and distinctive features listed and describing this website, NHRF’s trademark or trademarks or products or services, are the property of NHRF and are protected by the relevant trademark legislation subject to the expressly stated exceptions. In any case, their appearance and display on NHRF’s website should not in any way be construed as a transfer or assignment of a licence or right to use them. Any copying, digital recording and mechanical reproduction, transfer, downloading, resale or creation of derivative works based on this content or misleading the public about the actual provider-operator of the website is prohibited. Content of which NHRF holds the intellectual property is available exclusively for research and educational purposes under the Attribution - NonCommercial – ShareAlike 4.0 International - CC BY-NC-SA) licence, unless otherwise stated for content involving third-party rights. Reproduction, republication, uploading, communication, dissemination or transmission or any other use of the content by any means or medium for commercial or other purposes (non-research or non-educational) is permitted only with the prior written permission of NHRF, which holds the copyrights or of any other legal copyright holder.


    Privacy Policy

    NHRF collects and further processes the personal data of users during their visit to NHRF’s website, in accordance with the national and Union legislation on personal data protection and in particular Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (hereinafter referred to as the ‘GDPR’), the relevant case law of the CJEU, Hellenic Law 4624/2019 as well as the acts (Decisions, Directives and Opinions) of the Hellenic Data Protection Authority. For specific information regarding the collection and further processing of users' personal data by NHRF, the user can refer to the Data Protection Notice (see below), which has been included in this page.

    When users browse the website, certain necessary information related to the traffic of the application may be collected, such as the Internet Protocol (IP) address and the type of browser used by the user, etc.

    User Obligations

    All users are obliged to use the website respecting these Terms of Use, as well as the principles of good faith and fair dealing as they derive from the Greek, EU and international regulatory framework. In the event of a breach of the following obligations, users are obliged to compensate NHRF for any damage it may suffer from such breach. Specifically, when using the website, users are obliged:

    To use the content of the website in such a way as not to violate the rights of third parties (individual and social rights), not to offend their personality and in any event, not to violate the law as well as the principles of good faith and fair dealing.

    Not to mislead anyone as to the origin of the content of NHRF’s website and not to harm in any way NHRF's reputation and name.

    Not to install, promote or make available content containing viruses or any other electronic code, files or programs designed to interfere with, destroy or limit the operation of any software so as to prevent the use of NHRF’s website by other users.


    In the event that a user breaches, in any way, the content of these Terms of Use, NHRF reserves the right to restrict, suspend or terminate their access to the website, adopting all necessary measures for this purpose.


    Dispute Resolution

    These Terms of Use are governed by Greek law. In the event that a dispute arises with a user of the website, NHRF will seek to negotiate with the user in order to resolve it amicably. However, in the case of judicial resolution of disputes, the courts of Athens shall have jurisdiction.

    Should any Term be deemed invalid by the Greek Courts, its invalidity shall not entail the invalidity of the remaining Terms of Use.


    Amendment/Update of Terms of Use and Conditions

    NHRF reserves the right to amend, unilaterally and at any time, these Terms of Use of NHRF’s website, in the context of its compliance with regulatory changes, upgrading its functions and optimizing its services. In case of future modification of the Terms of Use of NHRF’s website, the user will be informed and asked to re-accept the modified Terms of Use.

    Definitions

    For the purposes of the present Data Protection Notice, the following terms shall have the meaning set out below:

    ‘Controller’ means the natural or legal person, public authority, agency, or other body which, alone or jointly with others, determines the purposes and means of the processing of personal data; where the purposes and means of such processing are determined by Union or Member State law, the controller or the specific criteria for its nomination may be provided for by Union or Member State law. For the purposes of this Notice, NHRF acts in its capacity as a Data Controller.

    ‘Applicable Law’ means the relevant national and Union legislation on the protection of personal data and in particular Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (hereinafter referred to as the ‘GDPR’), Hellenic Law 4624/2019, Hellenic Law 3471/2006, the jurisprudence of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), as well as the Decisions, Guidelines and Opinions of the European Data Protection Board (hereinafter referred to as the ‘EDPB’) and the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (hereinafter referred to as the ‘HDPA’).

    Data automatically collected

    When you use our website, we collect certain information automatically, including information that may constitute personal data. The following categories of personal data are collected automatically: language settings, IP address, location, device settings, device operating system, activity details, time of use, redirect URL, status report, user information (information about browser version), operating system, browsing result (simple visitor or registered customer), browsing history.


    We may also collect data through cookies. For information on the use of cookies, see our Cookie Notice. Data collected automatically will be processed to ensure the delivery of the website service to you as a user. The legal basis for the use of cookies necessary for the operation of the website is legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) and for all other categories of cookies, processing is based on your consent.


    Transfer of Data Outside the EEA and/or to International Organizations

    In general, NHRF does not transfer your personal data to third countries and/or International Organizations. In the event of a transfer of your personal data to a country outside the European Economic Area (EEA) or an International Organization, NHRF shall first ensure that one of the legal bases of Article 6 of the GDPR is adhered to, and simultaneously one from Chapter V GDPR. Specifically: (a) the Commission has issued an adequacy decision for the third country or International Organization to which the transfer is to be made (Article 45 of the GDPR); or (b) appropriate safeguards in accordance with the GDPR are in place for the transfer of such data (Article 46 of the GDPR); or (c) for occasional processing, one of the exceptions provided for in Article 49 of the GDPR must apply (for instacnce, the explicit consent of the subject upon having been informed of the risks of such transfer; the transfer is necessary for the performance of a contract at the request of the data subject; the transfer is necessary for important reasons of public interest; the transfer is necessary for the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims or for the protection of vital interests of the data subject, among other).


    Exclusion of Liability for Third Party Websites-Social Media Widgets

    On this website there are social media widgets (such as Facebook and Instagram), through which, after the user logs in to the social network, a special digital fingerprint is created in respect of which both NHRF and the social network itself act as joint controllers.As regards NHRF, the purpose of processing such data is to improve the functionality of the website and the services provided, as well as for traffic analysis. The lawful basis for the processing of personal data is the pursuit of the legitimate interest of the user and in particular the interoperability with applications used by them (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).NHRF does not have control over and is not responsible for any further processing carried out on such data by Joint Controllers.For more information about the data processing policy and the options for configuring these networks, please visit the following websites:

    NHRF ensures that it can respond promptly to the requests of data subjects with regards to the exercise of their rights in accordance with the Applicable Law. In particular, each data subject shall have the following rights: Access, Rectification, Erasure, Restriction.
